Merry Christmas to All Offended

My social media life this past year has been something of an experience.  There are some people who have called my husband and myself friends have basically disowned us for three reasons.

1. #IamaChristian

2. #NRA

3. #NotaFanofthePresident

For example, one of our friends disowned us because of our  membership to the NRA.  We were called racist when the Ferguson riots were a nightly event on the news.  Those who touted their tolerance we're the least tolerant of all.  Also, people that were so worried about offending other people did not mind voicing how offended they were about anything.   Merry Christmas to all that were offended by my husband and me.  Merry Christmas to the people that think we are horrible to belong to an organization that keeps the 2A in the hands of Americans.  Merry Christmas to Hillary Clinton who thinks because we make a slight right turn in our political beliefs that we are her enemy.  It is close to the end of the year and God has forgiven me so I must forgive those who do me wrong.  Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Blessings and Thank You

The Narrative Begins

On Saturday November 27, a man near a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood open fired and killing three people including a police officer.  The President or Dear Leader not wanting to let a good crisis go to waist immediately speaks about gun control and people not being able to get their hands on the "weapons of war".    The left's narrative is standing with Planned Parenthood when no one knows for sure if the target was Planned Parenthood.  I will stand with the families of loved ones taken too soon from this world and those injured in this tragedy.

Now ABC news and another story from People.com reads that the shooter did enter the Planned Parenthood.

Are Christians always to blame?

There is an active shooter in Colorado near a planned parenthood with two officers hurt.  While reading the story from the local stations the hate for both conservatives and Christians began to come through the haters on the internet.   The narrative on the left is that conservatives are evil.  The generalization that exist divides the country.  It will do so until America is no more.

What do I have in common with Marco Rubio?

Senator Marco Rubio of Florida and 2016, Presidential Candidate and I have something in common.  According to the New York Times Rubio and his wife enjoy driving really fast.  I like to drive really fast as well in my Nissan Rogue.  This past winter as I was going to water aerobics I was the unfortunate receiver of a speeding ticket.  I did not realize that along Smith Valley Road the speed limit was 35mph.  This was after I realized on Main St taking my daughter home that the speed limit was 40mph.  Now I get really busy with speaking to my daughter or singing the wonderful tunes of Frozen or other musicals that can help with the distraction.  I cannot remember how much money I have spent on paying tickets or defensive driving classes.  It may be close to the $1000, price that Rubio and his wife has paid.  According to the New York Times the offenses of the Rubio couple goes back to 1997.

According to a search of the Miami-Dade and Duval County court dockets, the Rubios have been cited for numerous infractions over the years for incidents that included speeding, driving through red lights and careless driving. A review of records dating back to 1997 shows that the couple had a combined 17 citations: Mr. Rubio with four and his wife with 13. On four separate occasions they agreed to attend remedial driving school after a violation.

Mr. Rubio’s troubles behind the wheel predate his days in politics. In 1997, when he was cited for careless driving by a Florida Highway Patrol officer, he was fined and took voluntary driving classes. A dozen years later, in 2009, he was ticketed for speeding on a highway in Duval County and found himself back in driver improvement school.

Things got more complicated in 2011 when Mr. Rubio was alerted to the fact that his license was facing suspension after a traffic camera caught him failing to stop at a red light in his beige Buick. His lawyer, Alex Hanna, paid a $16 fee to delay the suspension and eventually it was dismissed.

How much of this is actually important to being President of the United States?  In my opinion it doesn’t mean a damn thing.  Why? “I did not have sex with that woman.” This was spoken by President Bill Clinton on the then alleged rumor of his affair with Monica Lewenski. “What difference does that make?”  Hillary Clinton made this wonderful statement in accordance with her role in the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi.  The Clintons were able to move pass the offenses. Bill was still able to be the most popular democratic president and his wife gets another chance to be the first woman President of the United States.  Marco Rubio and his wife may not get the same chance as the Clintons.  I mean my goodness gracious people it’s a traffic ticket not having sex in the oval office or telling a unit to stand down that was more than able to save four Americans in Benghazi.

ESPY

In Indiana God brought home a beautiful young woman named Lauren Hill.  She died of a rare brain cancer that she happily raised awareness knowing full well that she may never see the fruit that she bears.  Then comes along Bruce Jenner saying that he is now Caitlyn Jenner and because he is now a she he is going to receive an ESPN award for being brave.  What is she/he brave for?  Wow!  He had surgery.  Well sweetheart surgery is nothing new for this woman and probably wasn't new for Lauren Hill.  I have had four surgeries all before the age of 20 and on Tuesday it will be five.  I ask you to bring it Caitlyn Jenner because you are taking or should I say stealing an ESPY from a young woman who will not know the joy of being a mother and will not see the day that Cancer is eradicated.  She raised the bar.  Caitlyn Jenner its a bar you will never be able to reach.

Bruce is A Girl

Do you remember when Bruce Jenner won the Olympics?  Well I think that I do, but more importantly I have always known who Bruce Jenner is and the accomplishments of his life.  The last year we have noticed changes and last month the noticed changes were confirmed that Bruce Jenner wanted to be a girl.  This Olympian, that people who actually look at the world around them, looked up to as an example of the American dream changed that perception.  On Monday Bruce became Caitlyn the social media has been filled with this news.  My brain is trying to wrap my head around this piece of news on why I should care.  I kinda care, but I don't care.  Why don't I care?  I have three reasons why I at least kinda care.
1. She is a human being and God still loves her no matter her gender, although he did bring Bruce into the world.  Whatever!  God loves HER.
2. Congress is debating the future of our 4rth Amendment right.  Remember?  The one that basically says the government needs a warrant to come into your home.  Bruce is a girl, so its okay. NOT!!!
3. Why do you want to be a girl? Really?!  Why is this a thing?  You want to go through pain in order to change gender.  Sweetheart I go through pain once a month being a girl sometimes isn't all that great.  At least Caitlyn doesn't have to go through the once a month sunshine and happiness that I go through and please note the sarcasm.  God created male and female.  Girls Rock.  I have given life.  Its pretty cool.  BOOM!!!  I WIN!!!!

Duggar vs Dunham

There are a few instances within our mainstream media culture that can throw the populace for a loop.  In the last couple of weeks those who are fans of “19 Kids and Counting” have been rocked by the news that Josh Duggar at the age of 14, not only molested four of his sisters, but also a daughter of a family friend.  The image of the conservative Christian family who believe in not using birth control and strict courting rules.  In order for those to understand what this may look like let’s look at what this life style may look like with a couple of examples.  For example, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar believe that birth control is not part of God’s plan for their family.  Michelle became pregnant before having her eldest child, Josh Duggar, yet she and her husband experienced an unfortunate miscarriage believing that because she became pregnant while on birth control.  This is how they came to their belief through the movement called Quiverfull.

Another example of this family’s culture is their belief on courtship.  Those within other religions or Christian faiths may allow their son or daughters go out and date.  This may happen within a group of friends or the couple will go out on their own.  In the Duggar family the courtship process often takes place with the father’s permission and with chaperones.  For example, Josh and Anna started their courtship with the blessing of their parents and with a set of rules that were strictly followed.  One rule those on outside looking in was Josh and Anna decided to only share their first kiss after they are pronounced man and wife.  This particular culture of this family put the image to the rest of the world was a wholesome Christian family that brought values to the television screen.  This ended when the world learned of Josh Duggar molesting his sisters and the daughter of a family friend.  Instead of ignoring the situation both Anna and Josh Duggar along with his parents Michelle and JimBob Duggar recognized the sin and apologized.  Josh resigned from his position in Washington DC.  Along with the network pulling all future airings of the show and replacing the show with “The Little People”.  It is the reaction of the left that is confusing with comments on social media.  The comments from those who run on the left of the political spectrum are extremely supportive of Lena Dunham, but regarding the Duggar family are calling for their expulsion from TV.  This is the result in punishing the entire family who are feeling the consequences of Josh Duggar’s actions.

When Lena Dunham came out with her book detailing her willingness of how she molested her little sister the political spectrum was once again split down the middle.  The liberals see her as the poster woman for the feminist movement.  My favorite word from Chicks of the Right “hosebeast” is how she is described on the right.  Lena Dunham and Josh Duggar both made decisions that have possibly altered the lives of those involved.  Who are we to judge?  What is the difference between the two celebrities?  The first thing that comes to mind is Josh Duggar’s readiness to admit he was wrong and ask forgiveness not only from those he hurt, but from his fan base.  Although, his parents are answering the questions the world may want to ask in regards to the scandal on “The Kelly File” this week he has largely stayed out of sight.  He is ashamed of his actions.  In the case of Lena Dunham she detailed her actions in a book and was relatively proud and brushed it off as being a kid.  She was neither ashamed nor did she care or felt sorry for possible pain that she may have brought her sister.  The progressive left instantly wants an excuse to blame Christianity.  The fact is that both Dunham and Duggar were wrong.  It is Lena Dunham and Josh Duggar who should receive the backlash of their actions.  We have to discern from right and wrong and remember that God does forgive everyone.  Yes, we need to forgive as God has forgiven us, but we do not have to forget.

Memorial Day: The meaning in today's climate

The weekend has many things going for it here in the great state of Indiana.  First of all, there are cook outs and beer.  Secondly, the Indy 500 and more beer.  The final point of this weekend often gets ignored and only mentioned by its platitudes.  Monday is Memorial Day.  This weekend we are supposed to be thankful and remember those who served.  As Americans this should be a day that is up there with the Fourth of July because without our soldiers the day of our Independence would never had happened.  There is no country in the world that was started and fought for by the people, so there really should be no excuse to dismiss this day for drinking beer and eating till we pop.  Is this just the way we celebrate?
Americans within the last fourteen years have witnessed the climate of being an American change since 9/11.  I am just commenting on what I have witnessed as an American citizen myself. We have seen two wars, the Patriot Act bring us closer to big government and those of us who are Christian are expected to submit to the feelings of a religion that tries to kill us.  We are also forced to watch as our children lose history in the name of Political Correctness.  Now with the riots in Ferguson and Baltimore that have recently plagued the headlines the narrative is slowly changing.  Gone are the days of Martin Luther King jr. where non violence was the answer.  The question facing black Americans or any community were truly answered because the country could have a debate.  There is no debate that doesn't end in debate.  As a white, Christian conservative woman I have been called a racist because I would like to think that if you fight the cops the consequences could be severe.  Although, its something that I pray doesn't happen, yet the truth is often discarded for one's side grasp of power.  Americans have always answered the call of justice whether it was the fight to end slavery, Jim Crow laws, Germany's tyrannical leader or the killing of 3,000 innocent people by a organization that seems to hate our freedoms.  In creating more laws in the name of security the side of hate is winning.  What do we have to be thankful for this Memorial Day weekend?
We are still living in the land of the free. (So far?)  My family are able to criticize the government, worship how we please, practice the 2nd Amendment and practice free speech.  If these things were not true the Lee Family would be in jail at the moment.  Because we have plenty to say about the Obama Administration.  This is exactly how we celebrate Memorial Day.  We thank those who fight and die for the freedoms we enjoy.  We drink the beer, eat the food and watch the race.  We live the life that has been so bravely fought for till the very end.  We will never forget the sacrifice that was made in the American people's lives.  A big thank you to Ed Lee, Blake Pointdexter, Joe Click, Grandpa Connett and all those who fought and continue to fight, so that I may worship, eat and have that beer.  Thank you with all my heart, mind and soul.

Mrs. Obama not everthing is about race.

There have been many time throughout my forty years that race has not been part of the American fabric.  Of course, my experience with race is nothing like what my parents witnessed in the 1950s and 60s.  In the last couple of years there has been a wave of race coming back up within the American conversation again.  It’s not just conversation, yet we are seeing protest along with the unfortunate side effect of violence.  The cause is less important than who may be helping to feud it in this day and age.  In the civil rights movement of my parents youth it was the “separate but equal” supported by the Supreme Court.  Americans such as, Martin Luther King Jr.  showed all people that it is not by violence that we receive justice it is by peaceful protest that justice will be served.  “I’m not comparing what anybody has gone through [to] slavery,” Beck clarified. “Or [saying it’s the] same as what Martin Luther King went through. But we’re not the country of Martin Luther King’s time anymore! We are being dragged back to those days.” (Beck)  Glenn Beck was referring to the speech that Michelle Obama gave at Tuskegee University.  Michelle Obama made her speech sound as if we are still within the days of separate schools and water fountains of the 50s and 60s.
We are not the Americans we once were in those days.  We are better than that or at least we should be able to recognize when we are being race baited.  Yes I am white, I am Christian and I am a Conservative.  This doesn’t mean I instantly hate people of color.  No, I grew up in a home Mrs. Obama that instantly hated you or anyone else because you are black.  No, Mrs. Obama I don’t think that the riots in Ferguson or Baltimore is how the people are reacting.  We can have peaceful demonstration without violence.  What we can’t abide by is people like yourself, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson telling us that we are separate and we couldn’t possibly understand.

Uniquely American

Three of the most compelling political issues that stir the American public sometimes will become the topic of many arguments in the class room and around the dinner table.  The topics of abortion, gun control and gay marriage can be both a political and moral subject.  The examples can be whether or not abortion is murder, if a gay couple should be legally married within the United States or if a gun owner has the right to own any type of firearm he or she wishes to own and does the nation need more firearm regulation.  The following piece will explore how extreme to the left or right each of these issues can become on the political spectrum.

The Second Amendment becomes the national conversation especially when publicized by the media sadly through mass shootings involving children.  Although, the ability to own a firearm is protected by the United States Constitution the question has been recognized if a gun ban should not be in place.  Also, if a universal background check or a national registry should not be in place to help protect those who cannot protect themselves.   The conservative side of the argument states that there are enough gun control laws in place and more laws are not needed because criminals do not follow laws.  In her article, “Gun Control Isn’t the Answer Here’s Why” Dana Loesch points out that many of the mass shooters that the nation unfortunately know by name would not have followed gun control laws because they were determined to take the lives of innocent people.

What did recent shooters like Adam Lanza, Jared Lee Loughner, and James Holmes have in common? They were disturbed young men that no law could deter from their intended destruction. Why were the warning signs ignored? All of these men were clearly troubled, all three were on medication. Loughner's warning signs went ignored. We don't yet know if Lanza's family knew he was experiencing problems or if they witnessed warning signs. Holmes was severely medicated and apparently abused his regimen. Lanza could not have legally obtained the firearms he used because it is illegal in Connecticut to purchase or possess a firearm under the age of twenty-one. Lanza was twenty.

Dana Loesch also makes a valid point that Adam Lanza had stolen his mother’s gun hence once again breaking another law.  These men were criminals.  Those who are intent to kill by any means are going to do so and there is no law or firearm ban that is going to stop a person’s intent in harming another.  It is an unfortunate side effect of living with free will and those who are willing to come into harm’s way to protect others need the freedom in order to do what is needed.  While the gun debate has certainly brought the responsible gun owner to action and has brought more women into the fold of owning a gun the blame game especially after Sand Hook continues to be played.  Joshua Holland explains the progressive left’s narrative in his article from Salon, “The reason we can’t have a sane, adult discussion of how to cut down on random gun violence is simple: the NRA has hoodwinked a lot of reasonable gun owners into believing that there’s a debate in this country over banning firearms altogether” (Holland).  .  The NRA is blamed every time there is a mass shooting.  It seems to the progressive left’s narrative to blame the NRA.  While there continues to be a push for restrictive gun legislation, even though the only time the topic is brought up when a tragedy has taken place it is organizations like the NRA teaching about responsible gun ownership.  The NRA has many programs that deal with responsible gun ownership and safety around firearms such as, Eddie the Eagle to educate children and the many workshops and training available when attending a NRA convention.  The simple fact is that the United States Constitution states that as Americans we have the right to “keep and bear arms”.

Faith is often the reason people in America begin to take on politics either in a professional or grassroots role.  We see the signs of pictures of babies still inside the womb of the baby’s mother, or the “war on women” speak that suggest that legal abortion is somehow a woman’s civil right and part of the healthcare system.  It was Democrat Wendy Davis from Texas brought the debate to the forefront of the subject on late term abortion.  It is once again the extremes that take hold of the debate and conversation that tends to divide us the most.  As faith brought those who came before it is faith that argues that the unborn should have every chance at life as those who bring the child into the world or those who end the child’s life out of convenience.  Since the conservative side deals with the liberal’s arguments of equal rights for a woman’s health then fire back with equal rights for the unborn child as Josh Brahm discusses in his article “The Most Undervalued Pro Live Argument Against Abortion”.

We’re asking pro-choice people if they agree that all human adults have an equal right to life.

When they say yes, we ask them, “Doesn’t that mean there must be something the same about us?”

In other words, if we all have an equal right to life, then we must all have something in common that demands that we treat each other equally, and we must have that property equally. It can’t be something (like size or intelligence) that comes in degrees, or it wouldn’t explain our equal right to life.

The idea that the a baby inside the womb of the mother has the same equal rights as anyone else does make for a compelling argument and one that is hard not to agree.  It is by faith that leads people to be champions for those who are unable to speak for themselves.

Those that are pro-choice seem to focus on the rights of the mother according feminism, want and right of the mother.  Although, those things may be important because women in this country have struggled to even hold property and vote it may be that as women remembering that our own mothers sacrificed a part of themselves in order give life.  Those who do not see it the way of persons of faith may give rise and acceptance to the extreme side on the subject of Abortion.   “[W]hen circumstances occur after birth such that they would have justified abortion, what we call after-birth abortion should be permissible. … [W]e propose to call this practice ‘after-birth abortion’, rather than ‘infanticide,’ to emphasize that the moral status of the individual killed is comparable with that of a fetus … rather than to that of a child. Therefore, we claim that killing a newborn could be ethically permissible in all the circumstances where abortion would be. Such circumstances include cases where the newborn has the potential to have an (at least) acceptable life, but the well-being of the family is at risk” (Saletan).  This quote from an article highlighted by William Saletan was written by Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva.  It calls for the killing of children because the mothers could not raise their babies because of economic, social or psychological reasons.  This is pure selfish and evil to consider a child nothing more than an object in which to decide the child’s fate.  This is not our decision to make it is God’s decision.

The final political and moral topic on the lips of Americans into today’s social climate is whether a gay couple can marry legally in the United States.  Those who believe that love is love and the same sex marriages are not any different than a heterosexual marriage.   This may be true for some, yet there are some in America that believe that a sacredness of marriage is between a man and a woman.  Maybe there doesn’t need to be legislation and people should just be allowed to go live their lives as they see fit.  This is fine if you are in agreement with gay marriage.  What if you are not in favor of gay marriage because of your religious and spiritual worldview?  If you are asked to bake a cake for a gay couple and refuse then you are to face taunts of discrimination.  This is why the Religious Freedom Restoration Act has been signed into law not only here in Indiana and twenty other states in the Union.  “The legislation would prohibit the state from denying a person, company or nonprofit group a license, accreditation, employment or contract — or taking other “adverse action” — based on the person or entity’s religious views on the institution of marriage” (Jindal).

These are three issues that have been part of my life as I have gone from liberal to conservative.  Common sense has helped me to conclude that the Second Amendment cannot be taken over by legislation.  All people should have a right to keep a weapon either for sport or for protection.  Common sense has coupled with the spiritual to form my beliefs that all life is sacred and marriage is also sacred.  I look towards my father in law who wisely spoke to a LA Times reporter covering the NRA convention in 2013 and said, “You have to be able to find some common ground,”

Change in America

Today I was sitting with my dad and his friend.  A friend that I whole heartedly disagree with her.  She is progressive and seems to know what others should do with their lives.  There I sit hoping for some mild conversation and I mention my current health issues.  Telling my father mostly that I have doctor's appointment for something real that will help me now that we all know I am truly in pain.  She came in instantly about the Indiana Legislature with stricter laws about narcotics.  I do agree with her that the law has hurt more than it has helped.  Of course, as most of my political talks with progressives go it quickly goes down hill.
I don't know what started the beginning of the end, but my feelings for this country usually ends things.  Apparently the United States is a broken country and we are the poorest country.  I believe that she meant morally.  This is not true for me at all because we are not killing those who don't agree with us. Yes, this country has it's issues but we are so not close to the edge to where we have lost all hope.
My hope comes from the idea that this country is exceptional.  Why are we exceptional?  Why? We fought a Civil War to free those who needed help, fought a World War to champion the plight and near extinction of another people and we have made sure  that those whose constitutional rights were being violated could finally put into practice what we have held dear.  The power of revolt through voting.  I LOVE THIS COUNTRY!!
